If you stumbled onto this article, I’m assuming that you currently consume soy products. Or hey, maybe not – maybe you’re just a follower of my blog and want to see what I’ve written this week. If you are a regular follower, you will know that I am a new vegan (almost 4 months), and that because of this, I recently started ingesting more soy products than I have in the past. Soy cheese, soy milk, tofu, soy EVERYTHING!
Soy products are made from soybeans which is a species of legume that is high in B vitamins. Soy products are used in a variety of products as a meat substitute for individuals that choose to live a meat-free lifestyle, or perhaps people that are unable to ingest lactose – in which case, they may opt for soy milk instead of a typical cow’s milk.
Soy products are a great option – especially when your options are already limited.

UPDATE: I was incorrect in saying so- Daiya is actually soy free! Rejoice!
Since I went vegan, I’ve ingested a ridiculous amount of Daiya cheese products. I’m really not proud to admit the amount of it I have ingested, seriously – it’s a problem. It’s just so good, guys.
Yves Veggie Burgers
I typically make my own burgers from chickpeas, or beats, or other veggies that I have in the house – but sometimes I don’t have the time to make them from scratch and just need a good burgie, yah know? The Yves Veggie Burgers are the bomb – Second best to my homemade burgers, anyways!
It may be because the cost is literally $2.00, or maybe it is because it is literally delicious – but Natur-a milk is MY FAVOURITE THING! Have you tried the chocolate milk? L-E-G-E-N-D-A-R-Y!
The Honest Truth About Soy Products
Okay, so let’s get done to it, shall we? I love soy products – I really do. But I’ve realized something very important about them. They are ruining my fitness journey. I have been trying to lose weight for over a year and I have been struggling – I mean REALLY struggling.
In the last couple of weeks I have unintentionally limited my intake of soy products, and I’ve lost weight in that short amount of time. Soy products are making me fat, I’m sure of it. I’m not a scientist, so maybe don’t trust my word for it – but my personal experience with soy has not been a great one. I’m still going to have drunken nachos with “cheese”, but I’m definitely going to think twice about it.
From the little research I have done on soy products I have learned that soybeans are full of nutrients and protein and they are really great for you – but when soy is processed, it is stripped of all it’s nutrients and you just end up with crap. Just like any junk food – moderation is key.
